After six Octobers in Switzerland (click here and here to see how we kept up with Halloween in Zurich), it is fabulous to be back on US soil for Halloween. At four months old, the vachette is far too young to know what’s going on— her favorite activities include drooling and sucking on her hands— but that won’t stop us from dressing her up. Check out her ladybug costume:
As you can see, Niko and I also stocked up on some Halloween candy just in case. Last year in Zurich, the kids in our apartment building caught us unaware when they knocked on our door in costume. We were surprised because 1. the Swiss don’t normally do Halloween and 2. it technically wasn’t Halloween; they were trick-or-treating on the 29th. I tried explaining to the girls that Halloween was 31st, and that as an American, I was an authority on the subject, but such logic was useless, especially when there were greater things at stake, like candy.
Speaking of candy, the Swiss may rock the chocolate department, but nothing beats a Hershey’s peanut butter pumpkin.
